Keeping in mind the essential need of a strong financial knowledge base, we initiated the noble venture christened FinX – The Financial Xperts.

The main aim and objective of launching this society is imparting knowledge of the financial markets to the students and giving them an early exposure to the market shades and trends.

We would facilitate participation of students in the financial market through programs, workshops and seminars conducted by financial market experts. This will help students to make sense out of the market and the basic concepts applied there in.

Among the pool of several college societies, we at FinX endeavour to bolster your financial acumen.

Sessions/Talks

We plan to organize insightful sessions/talks about the financial markets by market experts. These talks will experience important subjects like

CBS Index cum Portfolio

This will be an index, with the dynamics of a portfolio. Stock prices of 20 companies will be tracked everyday, but with a twist. These companies can be changed from time to time depending upon the future expectations in the market. This portfolio is intended towards giving the students an idea of an ideal portfolio, through which they can take the dynamics of the market while planning for themselves and their organizations. News regarding the portfolio will be put up everyday.

Market Watch, a comprehensive sheet giving the view of the market with a Financial Term of the Day, is already being put up everyday in the college.

Games and Events

So far we have organized BULLS’N’BEARS - the stock market game as an inter college event that received great participation and appreciation. This game allows participants to act as investors/traders who invest in shares of certain companies and make profits. The top 3 teams making the maximum amount of money from the given amount of Rs. 10000 qualified for an attractive Prize Money.

Smart Investors organised by the society during Crscendo’09 was also cherished by the participants. The Prelims consisted of 5 rounds. All the teams acted as investors. They were given a virtual amount of Rs. 10000 to invest in a portfolio of 12 stocks. The top 15 teams making the maximum profit from the given amount qualified for the Final Round where they headed to BIFM for screen based trading, providing the maiden experience of some live trading.

Financial Digest, an e-research paper prepared by the Society members focusing on Sub Prime Crisis with special emphasis on bailout stories of Lehman Brothers and AIG was also treasured by the student fraternity.
