What We Do

We are a group of strong minded individuals who believe in the motto ‘we rise by lifting others’. We strive to work towards building a better society by making efforts to uplift the underprivileged sections of the society.

Key Achievements in 2023-24

Project Saksham

Project Saksham is an initiative that aims to promote comprehensive development by raising awareness about education, careers, skills, government sponsorship and policies among the underprivileged.

It targets various age segments and aims to provide job opportunities for the future in order to make them financially independent. We do this by providing holistic education as we believe that education extends beyond books.

Project Furry

Project Furry builds an environment that is safe for our non-human friends including a wider range of domestic animals such as dogs,  cows, cats and rabbits.

Our vision is to provide comfort, food and shelter.to animal in need, along with spreading awareness and sensitisation towards those who can’t speak for themselves. Giving special care to the strays and helping them by treating diseases. By volunteering we aim to find them homes.

Project Muskan

Project Muskan aims to break the shackles of gender discrimination and with vision to beam light on all gender issues prevailing in the society and lead the society toward equality.

It exists with modern feminist ideology of three layered equality rather than focusing on women solely. We believe that discrimination has a lot to do with the class and we hope to deal with that as well.

So far we have conducted an online Durga safety workshop and webinar on mental health and menstrual cycle.

National Service Scheme Activities

Being the NSS unit of our college, Kartavya is the torch bearer for all official NSS activities undertaken throughout the year. The volunteer-driven activities engage the youth from all around the country, with the aim of personality development and engagement through community service.

  • Donation Drives: During the year 2023-24, Kartavya organised several successful donation drives like cloth donation drive and food donation drive for  underprivileged sections of society.
  • Industry Partnerships: In addition to academic collaborations, we actively engage with various industries to bridge the gap between education and real-world applications. Partnering with industries enables us to provide students with insights into current industry trends, potential career paths, and practical skills that complement their academic learning.
  • Global Collaborations with Universities: Our organisation has established successful partnerships with several esteemed foreign universities. These collaborations offer unique opportunities for knowledge exchange, cultural enrichment, and collaborative projects. We envision extending these global connections to benefit the students at [NGO Name], opening doors to a wider world of educational possibilities.

Kartavya’s Commitment:

At Kartavya, we understand the critical role blood donation plays in saving lives. Our Blood Donation Drives are a testament to our commitment to contributing to the community’s health and well-being.

Key Events in 2023-24:

VITI’23 – Annual Diwali Fest

Viti is an amalgam of fun filled games, delightful food and exhilarating performance by singers, different college students, stand up comedians and young NGO children. Viti, organised by Kartavya, acts as a focal point for spreading social awareness in a festive and engaging manner.

Activities such as Rangoli Making and Treasure Hunt are organised on an intra college level. Another competition arranged was the classic ‘Open Mic’. The decorations also include a photo booth manned by students as well as booths for local startups for all to see. The intentions behind are to give a joyful and memorable experience with a splash of goodness towards society at large.

Under Vivante, a book donation drive for underprivileged students, wishing  wall and cloth donation drives for children and old age people. Vivante’23 witnessed a sponsored social case study competition.

A competition called Quest for Change is organised with the help of NGOs. It focuses on social dilemmas which plague society on a daily basis. The simulations and limitations are realistic owing to the communal engagement of the society.

Another venture is ‘Wishing Wall’. It is a wall posted with the wishes of children from an NGO located in Tilak Nagar, Scope for change. We hope that by looking at them, the students will feel an urge to give back to society.

In previous years, we have had overwhelming support from across DU, with individuals donating generously to fulfil the wishes of the underprivileged.
